Valuable Advice

In “Ithaca” who might find the speaker’s advice most valuable? Do you agree with the advice? Why or why not?

I think the audience of the book should learn from this advice. I think a lesson learned is to never judge a book by its cover and to never give up.

I agree with the advice, and with what jordan said.

The person who find this advice most useful is someone who is trying to go somewhere but don't think they will be able to make it to their destination. Yes i agree with this advice because it makes perfect sense.><><><><><><><><><><>
-Jordan i agree with what you are saying

I think that everyone could use that advice, and yes i do agree with the advice.

I think people in the army would find this advice most valuble. It shows them that no matter what you should never give up and that although the journey might be long there is always a way home.

Someone that has strong faith, or someone with little hope in themselves or those just hoping for along life. I definatley agree with the advice it makes perfect sens its just in simile form, or metaphor(I get the 2 confused).

The speaker's advice would help out people who cry all the time over non-sense stuff like relationships. I think the audience should have learned from the advice. I agree with the advice.

I think the advice is for someone who plans to leave home. THe advice, I think, is once you leave home and travel to new places and learn new things that your home will not provide of anything vaulueable anymore, so traveling back would be useless. No I do not agree with this because I firmly beleive that the home will always hold new things and it's also where the ones that love you are.

Any one who would pick it up & read it would find it the most valuable. Anyone who reads it can benefit from the advice that the poem "Ithica" gives. I DO agree with the advice

To me the one person who might find the speaker's advice most valuable to them is one that goes and travels, but since I do not really go and travel I don't give to much thought into their advice.

jordan, that's very true. I wish everyone would take that into consideration.

i think that Odysseus would find the advice most valuable because he is the one on the long journey.

I think that Odysseus will find the speaker's advice most valuable because Odysseus undergoes many adventures throughout his journey and many of them are dangerous to him and his crew members.
I would agree with the advice because you would want a safe journey and not a dangerous one. You would want to pray for a safe journey. You would not want to hike in a forest filled with tigers, bears, wild cats or any other dangerous animal that hasn't been tamed or can't be tamed.

Someone that might find the advice from this story useful is someone who is on a long voyage and feels that they might as well give up. There is always some hope and you should never give up. Yes, I do agree with the advice portrayed in The Odyssey.

I think people who is thinking about giving up on something should learn from this advice. I do agree with this advice because it help people believe in themselves and them becaome a better person.

I don't agree with wnating to find adventure and journeys and new places leaving your family behind to worry. It might help an explorer? But the poem has not fiction or reality to me.. that is an advice for anyone..

Albertus, you made a great point in your comment.

Kendal, you are right. I agree with the advice this story provided too.

Brandon, i think youre right; the poem was more an audience for those who want to shoot high for the stars and jump fire before the day is done. (that would be me!)
But some people prefer to wake up and get through the day without having to face a Cyclops or journey the seas away from your true love for twenty years, even if (like the poem says) the journey is worth it- because of the great things you come across, the sights you can see, and the outcome you can get of the experience.
So I think that if you want to be adventurous every day and tap dance on crocodiles (like i want to), this advice might be very helpful. I guess it depends on the type of person you are.

I think people that don't believe in themselves can find the advice most valuable. Yes I agree with the advice.

I do find the advice valuable. The advice, being "If you go on a journey, pray you have fun" I agree with this because it's telling you 'instead of going on a long journey and doing only what's needed. to go on that journey and HAVE FUN WITH IT!!!!

I think someone that is looking for more and think that it is away from home should learn this advice. This way they see what they want is exactly what they want. I agree with the advice.
