Homecoming

At last Odysseus’s homecoming is complete. Is this the ultimate satisfaction in his life? What do you think the future holds for Penelope, Odysseus, and Telemachus? What role might Odysseus’s past journey play in his future? Do you believe he is home for good?

I think this may be the ultimate satisfaction of his life because his whole journey was an attempt to return home so in a way yes. On the contrary, he may see the defeats of the challengers he has encountered a more sufficient satisfaction. I think the future is going to be somewhat difficult for Odysseus, Penelope, and Telemachus due to the fact the killed many men which may come back to bite them in the end. Odysseus's past plays a big part in his future becasue if there happens to be a revolt, then his past may drive away the revolt or give it more momentum. I don't know if he is home for good. I think it is a chance but if he must return to the sea for satisfaction or even another war, his homecoming may just be temporary.

Yea, I think that Odysseus is happy to be hone and he also one back his wife, Penelope. I think everyone will eventually be back to normal or think everything is normal, unless Odysseus decides to go back again. I don't think he would though, but i guess you never know.

Yes this is the ultimate satifaction in his life. In the future Odysseus will once again rule as king with Penelope as his Queen. Odysseus will probally use some of the lessons that he has learned through this journey to rule his kingdom better and yes I do think he is home for good.

I think that Odysseus's homecoming is the ultimate satisfaction in his life. He was gone for twenty years. I think that Odysseus, Penelope, and Telemachus will have a happy future. However, I do not think that Odysseus is home for good. I don't think that Zeus and Poseidon have lost thier grudge with Odysseus.

Since the overall goal of the test was to just go and get home so really he gets to see his son, wife, and home again that should be his ultimate satisfaction. Well since Odysseus is home and straightened everything out life should go well for the whole family, and since Odysseus went through a tough past that should help him guide through his future, and personally I don't think he is home for good.

I think it was the ultimate journey and satisfaction in his life because, he was finally home. And he was trying to get their for 20 years. I think that everyone would look up to him because of his great journey he had. I do not think he i home for good.

I think it might be his ultimate goal, but he might not think so. But, really it should be the ultimate goal, because the whole trip was to get home back to Penelope and Telemachus. I think that the gods will respect him a bit for passing the whole journey, and the suitors and protect Odysseus's family from others, and they will live peacefully. The journey could give the gods an idea on how to test other heroes to see if they are worthy of such fame and fortune as Odysseus was. I seriously doubt that he is home for good, but I know he won't be leaving for a while. He might stay home if he was just a sailor, but he is a famed soldier, so he will probably get called into another battle later on in his life.

I do belive at first Odysseus was not satsfied by the reaction of his wife, but after he got things stright with that, I do believe he is happy. I also believe he is finally home, and home for good.

I'd really have to go with Michaela on this one... His background would probably give revolts a problem, but then, since he is a famous soldier, some smart guys might try to overthrow him for bragging rights... ya never really know.

Yes it is the ultimate satisfaction. I think the future holds good things because thet are catching up on their family status. He might be beter at making choices and will alot stonger, mentally. I think he will be home for the rest of his life.

I think it was very satisfying for Odysseus to finally make it home after being gone for so long. Telemachus will someday be king of Ithica. Odysseus would probually stay home for good and live out the rest of his life in peace.

I could agree with ivy a little because i think thats why Odysseus was the last one to try the test that Penelope made.

i think Odysseus is very pleased that he is home now and not out at sea battling to get home once more.i think that there will me more gods and suitors that try to tear them apart by sea.but Odysseus will be stronger because of his past.I do not think he will be home permanantly but only temperarly until another god tries to test him again.

I agree with you Ivy.

I think he has spent so much time trying to get home that he aint gonna risk ruining it.He is physically spent and just wants to settle down i think the homecoming is for good and the future looks bright for him and his family.

This is the ultimate satisfaction in his life because he's been trying to get home for the longest. Odysseus, Telemachus, and Penelope may grow to be the Royal family of Ithaca. But due to Odysseus's adventurous spirit I don't think that he will be home for good

First home, is a saying, now these days they actully have adefintion, home has no meaning to some who don't think there is a place to go . DOdysseus though has his idea of home as Ithaca, no other place. Odysseus is only satified to show Penlope & Telemachus his is alvie. Penelope and Telemachus might suffer from 20 years missed. Odysseus past journeys can't help his kingdom or his own family. He is not home for good for he ist ested until time to himeslef he carries the load and blame of himself to Ithaca, but Ithaca is always his home

I believe that Odysseus will not stay home becuase the changed and now he is a very adventurous person and Penelope, and Telemachus will also go on a journey with Odysseus.

I think that the satifaction was coming home alive to see his family. I belive that the future will hold great things in it for Penelope, Odysseus, and Telemachus. His past may bring unbecoming dreams to mind but he will look at himself as a hero. I don't think he is home for good because his curiosity will bring him back into the the world somehow.

Odysseus, Penelope, and Telemachus are a family again. Odysseus and Penelope are together in eachothers arms. Odysseus is wiser now. I think that he would stay home due to his family's satifaction

Yes,i think that he has reached his ultimate satisfaction in life. And they all will live a happy future with each other. And he will never make the same mistakes over again.Yes he is home for good he has been gone for twenty years already.

i believe that the homecoming was atleast one of the ultimate satisfactions of his life. it was something he had been working on for 20 years so it must have been. I believe that the 3 of them will become a family aand rule over Ithaca together. i think that his past has made him stronger. there is a possibility that he might have to leave again one day.

michaela i think that it was his ultimate satisfaction. i dont thinkany defeat over anyone could surpass this event. finally being with his wife and child after 20 years i dont think theres any satisfaction greater than that.

I think as far as the journey it is because wasn't that the main goal. To get back to penelope, i mean he killed men to get there so i think it is!

sarah said...

Micheala,
I agree with it was the whole purpose of going through all the obstacles.

sarah said...

Jamie,
yeah i would be happy too if i went through all the trouble and finally got ot whee i wanted to be.

zach
i completely agree with you on this.

Anonymous said...

This is the ultimate satisfaction because he gets to reunite with his family.

Anonymous said...

i agree with michaela.

I think that going home is just another great achievement in his life that he will most likely brag on. He was gone for 20 years, had gone through every possible thing you could think of, and survived it all. I think that once he realized he was home for good he thought of all the things he has missed, making his homecoming the last chapter of his book.

i think in his life it may be the ultimate satisfaction but it might not be too. we all have to remember that he is a very curious person and who knows when the time comes and he hears of this amazing thing happening he might go off and try to find it so he can be the one to shout "i saw it!" or "i touched it!" or other things. but we all have to know that you dont know what to expect from odysseus because he is just one of those people who you can expect the unexpected from. no i do not think he is home for good. its more or less like his journey is just beginning

Ke'onna said...

yes i think it may be an ultimate satisfacation i think they will be a great family because odysseus wanted to meet his son and penelope wanted odysseus to come home so yes i think they will live happily ever after.

I agree with jamie, agreeing with ivy! lol

When your gone for 20 years, away from your family, and coming home expecting your wife to welcome you with open arms, and then she doesnt even acknowledge you. That would be a pretty bad greeting which i think, in a way, furied Odysseus.

hmm...this is definitely one post to get people thinking...
I dont know if Odysseus will stay for good. Of course, my first reaction is that "There's no way someone like HIM can just STAY at home!" but then I though of Penelope, and her twenty years of waiting. "Well, he'll want to stay with her, of course. Unless she would come...after all, her story was never told." But then i remembered that this was also his home. "Why would he leave it?"
But Odysseus's first priority was always "SAIL HOME, SAIL HOME, GET SUPPLIES, SAIL HOME, SAIL HOME...".
So I think this is the ultimate satisfaction in his life. It's all he's wanted for so long- and finally, he's happy.

also I think Penelope will be happy with Odysseus, perhaps so much she wont be afraid he'll take off again. it depends on how convincing he is...
Telemachus is old enough to go live the way he wants to, alone, on the other side of the world, who knows. But I don't think that his 20-year-lost father will be too much of a lookupto for a grown man.
Penelope wont leave unless she's with Odysseus. Odysseus wont leave unless he's kicked out, and Telemachus... I think he might go find some other life he can be proud of, instead of the Shadow of the Man Who Ran. (and fought a cyclops, sirens, two evil and jeaulous monsters plenty of suitors trying to steal his girl, and plenty other things...but what does that matter anymore, right?) Telemachus will probably not want to live as the offspring of that for too long.

yes i think this is the ultimate satisfaction of his life. I think the future might be good for them. They might become closer and fight together so no one can destroy their family.

Sabrina, Do you think Odysseus will go back to the adventure because he misses it?
